Saddar area to be parking-free zone: Kamal

Nazim Karachi Syed Mustafa Kamal has said that Saddar area will be declared parking free zone after completion of 2 parking plazas. According to a press release issued by City District Government Karachi (CDGK) on Saturday Kamal said that with the construction of broad footpaths and wide traffic zone, the area will be converted into a prime commercial centre.
It said, the second parking plaza in Saddar with a capacity of 3000 vehicles at a time would be completed in a year with an estimated cost of Rs 1.6billion. All 473 shopkeepers of old Shahabuddin Market will be given shops in this parking plaza with ownership rights for which the allotment orders are being given away today (Saturday).
He expressed these views while addressing ceremony held at the allocation of allotment orders to shopkeepers of old Shahabuddin Market in Saddar on Saturday. DCO Karachi Javed Hanif, EDO E&IP Dr Shahab Imam, Addl. EDO Revenue Matanat Ali Khan, D.O Estate Munir Ali Khan and other officers were also present on this occasion. Earlier the shopkeepers in Saddar greeted City Nazim with warm welcome on his arrival at the venue. They also showered rose petals on him.
The City Nazim said that Haq Parast leadership had promised shopkeepers of old Shahabuddin Market that they will be provided with shops with ownership rights and today I am grateful to Almighty God that we have fulfilled our promise. He said that although we had other options for displacement of these shopkeepers but we did not make them jobless for even a day and constructed alternate shops for them in advance.-PR
