Two websites run by a group supporting former Iranian president Mohammad Khatami's candidacy for the June presidential election have been blocked, a newspaper reported on Sunday. A news website and another where supporters can post their messages run by the Yaari group which supports Khatami have been blocked since Saturday, the report in the moderate Sarmayeh newspaper said.
The Yaari group is a team of young independent activists and journalists. Khatami, who was president between 1997 and 2005, has announced he would once again contest the post, putting him up against incumbent hard-line President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in the June 12 election.
