Early trade: New York cotton rises

Prices of US cotton and frozen concentrated orange juice futures were as follows. May cotton rose 0.21 cent to 44.31 cents per lb at 11:17 am (1617 GMT). Trading from 44.03 to 45.25 cents. Volume at 2,521 lots. Dealings quiet, market stays in range around mid-40 cents amid a lack of fundamental news, said traders. May FCOJ contract up 0.60 cent at 66.90 cents per lb at 8:23 am.
Trading from 65.00 to 67.20 cents, as market remained near its lowest level since August 2004. May volume at 1,023 lots. Bargain hunting seen after recent sharp sell-off, as the market on track to snap a streak of 8 consecutive lower sessions due to bleak global economic outlook, said traders.
