Swiss franc up

The Swiss franc rose against the dollar on Tuesday as worries about the global economy pressured stock markets and supported the traditional safe haven currency. Shares in Europe were tracking losses in Asia and the US, where Wall Street slumped to a 12-year low on concerns about the financial system.
The franc was 0.1 percent firmer against the euro compared to the New York close, trading at 1.4816 per euro. The franc rose 0.5 percent against the dollar to 1.1626 per dollar.
