Magsi, Gilani discuss Balochistan situation

Governor Balochistan, Nawab Zulfiqar Ali Magsi, called on Prime Minister, Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani at the Prime Minister House here on Thursday. During the meeting overall political situation in the country and on-going development projects undertaken by the federal government in Balochistan were discussed.
The prime minister said that the government is taking concrete steps for the speedy development of the Balochistan and ensuring provision of basic amenities of life to the people in order to improve their living standard. He said that accomplishment of mega development projects would not only usher in a new era of progress and prosperity in the province, but also remove the sense of deprivation among the people.
He particularly mentioned the Benazir Income Support Program (BISP) launched by the government for alleviating poverty and providing financial assistance to the vulnerable segments of the society. The Governor, Balochistan, briefed the prime Minister about the status of the mega projects in Balochistan being carried out with the financial support of the federal government.
He said that Balochistan province is endowed with vast hydrocarbon potential and speedy exploitation of these untapped natural resources would go a long way for the prosperity and progress of Balochistan as well as for the country.-PR
