PML-Q watching PML-N strategy on motivating workers

27 Feb, 2009

Pakistan Muslim League-Q is watching carefully the Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz's strategy on motivating and organising its workers before sharing its political cards with the Nawaz Sharif, if ever. Sources in the PML-Q told Business Recorder that the PML-Q may tilt in favour of PML-N in post-disqualification situation provided it is sure about having the required political strength on their back from the PML-N.
According to them, only Nawaz Sharif possesses the charisma to inspire the public at large, which is not the case with the PML-Q leadership in any case. These sources added further that the PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif would have to step forward while forgetting all differences in the larger interest of democracy and save the country from the alleged ill-designs of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leadership. These circles also believe that a good number of PML-Q members were in favour of reverting back to the PML-N on the return of Nawaz Sharif from exile but his adamant attitude proved a hurdle to any such move.
It may be noted that President Asif Ali Zardari had contacted Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain on Wednesday but Chaudhry Shujaat requested him to let him think over before deciding his political strategy. Interestingly, the political circles believe that the PML-N has failed to bring out impressive strength of workers when the Supreme Court announced disqualification of Sharif brothers.
Only Muridkay and Faisalabad were the cities where the PML-N workers gathered in a good number, they said, adding: Otherwise, the presence of PML-N workers in Lahore, Sheikhupura and Multan was not in accordance with the expected estimates. They added that not only the PML-Q but the PPP was also watching carefully the public response against the disqualification and nothing can be said with certainty about future of politics in Pakistan.
Meanwhile, it is also learnt on good authority that the Pakistan Rangers have been asked to be on its toes in the days ahead. According to the sources, the Rangers may be deployed outside the politically important buildings in case the Police force fails to provide required security. It may also be noted that sources both in the PPP and the PML-Q are expecting early lifting of Governor's Rule in the province.
