ARL shows loss

Attock Refinery Limited (ARL) has posted Rs 689.002 million as after tax loss in the half year period ended December 31, 2008 as compared to after tax earning of Rs 1,632.893 million recorded in the corresponding period in 2007. The board of directors at its meeting held on Thursday declared the company's per share loss at Rs 8.08 in the period under review against an earning per share of Rs 19.14 in the same period a year back.
On quarterly basis, the company registered a net profit after tax of Rs 181.178 million in the quarter ended December 31, 2008 against Rs 391.321 million earned in the same quarter in 2007. The company's earning per share was recorded at Rs 2.12 in this quarter against Rs 4.59 in the same quarter a year back.
According to the financial results, sent to Karachi Stock Exchange (KSE), the company's net sales increased to Rs 48.129 billion in the half year period in 2008 against Rs 37.244 billion in the same period in 2007. The company's cost of sales increased to Rs 49.232 billion in this period against Rs 35.620 billion in the same period in the previous year. The company's loss before tax was recorded at Rs 1.184 billion in the half year period in 2008 against after tax profit of Rs 1.892 billion in the same period in 2007.
