USAID will provide $16 million to promote technical education

USAID will provide 16 million dollars for the promotion of technical education in collaboration with Tevta and private sector. Mohsin Syed, Chairman, Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (Tevta) said this while chairing a meeting of the board of management (BoM) and institutional heads of technical colleges and institutes at Government College of Technology (GCT).
He said that courses and disciplines would be introduced in girls and boys technical and vocational institutes according to the need of the local industrial units. He said that engineers and other skilled persons working in the local industrial units would be inducted in board of management of Tevta to achieve the required results and make this programme a total success.
He said that a proposal to start evening classes in canal rest houses and vacant buildings would be forwarded to the government. He also welcomed the proposals presented by the members BoM and Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce & Industries (FCCI) and directed the concerned officers of Tevta for the implementation of their recommendations. Earlier, he planted a sapling in the lawn of GCT.
