Karzai orders elections by April

Afghan President Hamid Karzai ordered Saturday that presidential elections be held by April, months earlier than an August date set by the elections authority. The Independent Election Commission shall conduct presidential, provincial council and other elections according to provisions of the constitution, Karzai said in a decree released by his office.
The constitution says the election should be held within 30 to 60 days before the end of the presidential term on May 21.
