The Rawalpindi Chambers of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) and Pakistan Poverty Alleviation Fund (PPAF) have signed an agreement aimed at harnessing the corporate-social sector linkages to fight poverty in the country. Kamal Hyat, CEO and MD PPAF and Syed Asad Mashadi, President, RCCI signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to this effect at the RCCI on Monday.
Dr Junaid Ahmed, Advisor, Corporate Affairs, PPAF, Mohammad Imtiaz Chowdhry, Vice President, RCCI and other officials from the two organisations were also present. Under the MoU, RCCI and PPAF would work together for the promotion of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and Corporate Philanthropy (CP) for the provision of various facilities to the deprived segments of the society.
The RCCI will establish a corporate CSR and CP committee comprising its senior members to promote the development of CSR and CP amongst its members and initiate such activities as a representative body of the business community. Further, the RCCI will appoint one of its regular staffs as Co-ordinator or Manager to ensure the continuity of policies, programs and actions and to function as the contact person in future.
The PPAF has initiated a programme to work with the business and corporate sector for generating funds for poverty alleviation activities. The MoU with RCCI is the first of its kind and as per the agreement, the RCCI and its members would be provided with technical assistance in delegating CSR and social welfare programmes. The PPAF would help in implementing these programmes through its partner organisations.-PR
