President Asif Ali Zardari has withdrawn the Code of Criminal Procedure (Amendment) Ordinance 2009 (VII of 2009) on the advice of Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani. The said Ordinance envisaging the setting up of mobile courts had been issued on February 27 on the advice of the Prime Minister.
The advice to withdraw the amendment Ordinance was received from the Prime Minister on Tuesday in the Presidency, President''s spokesman Farhatullah Babar said on Tuesday.
He said that on reconsideration it had been decided that the said Ordinance may be withdrawn and advised the President to withdraw the Code of Criminal Procedure (Amendment) Ordinance 2009 (VII of 2009) in exercise of his powers under Article 89 (2) (b) of the Constitution. After the receipt of the advice the President approved the proposal of the Prime Minister to withdraw the Ordinance, he added.
