Rice prices dipped on the wholesale grain market on Wednesday on the back of economic slump the world over, dealers said. On the rice sector Basmati-D 98 Shahdadkot low type fell by Rs 300 to Rs 4200 and better quality dropped Rs 400 to Rs 4300, Basmati-D Bagr Jee followed suit and lost the same amount at the equal price.
Super Basmati Sindh was sharply down by Rs 800 to Rs 5000-5200, Sela Basmati inferior type came down after falling 1300 to Rs 5500 and good type also lower by Rs 1400 to Rs 5600 and Super Sela Karnal low type was down by Rs 100 to Rs 8300 and the best type also slipped after losing Rs 400 to Rs 8400, they said.
On the seed side til low type was up by Rs 100 to Rs 3200 and good type followed the same patter, gaining Rs 200 to Rs 3500, cottonseed oilcake with bag Sindh low type rose by Rs 50 to Rs 850 while the best quality held the overnight level at Rs 950, they said.
On the rising demand by the retailers, sugar prices tended higher with a rise of Rs 50 to Rs 4050 and Gur better type also went up with same gain at Rs 4100 while the low type was unchanged at Rs 3400, they said. Cereals and grams sector did not move any side in process of slow trading in the absences of genuine buyers, they added.
