Collingwood ton leads England to 372

08 Mar, 2009

Paul Collingwoods ninth Test hundred helped England to 372 for four at lunch on the second day of the fifth and final test against West Indies on Saturday. West Indies gained two early breakthroughs when Fidel Edwards bowled Andrew Strauss around his legs, the England skipper having added just three runs to his overnight 139.
Owais Shah, resuming his innings after retiring hurt with hand cramp on Friday, was then run out for 33 after taking a risky single to substitute fielder Dwayne Bravo at mid-wicket. Wicketkeeper Matt Prior (57 not out) and Collingwood (101 not out) made sure the session belonged to England with a lively unbroken partnership of 104 as West Indiess early aggressive approach faded away. Collingwood has scored four test centuries against West Indies, two on this tour. West Indies are 1-0 up in the series.
