PML-Q senator urges deposed Chief Justice to retire in national interest

08 Mar, 2009

The Pakistan Muslim League-Q Senator Gulshan Saeed on Saturday said the deposed Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammed Chaudhary should say good bye to the lawyers movement and retire from his office in better national interest. Speaking on a point of order, he said the deposed chief justice has become a controversial figure in national politics and is sole cause of contention between the major political parties including PPP and PML-N.
He said it was the chief justice issue, which has claimed several lives during the protest demonstrations staged by lawyers, civil society organisations and political parties. He criticised the apex court verdict of disqualification of Sharif brothers but also advised them not to follow the suit of violence rather prefer the dialogue between their party and the PPP. He urged the government to withdraw Governors Rule and reverse the disqualification verdict of Sharif brothers to being an end to politics of confrontation.
