Pietersen considering pulling out of IPL

09 Mar, 2009

Former England captain Kevin Pietersen is considering pulling out of the Indian Premier League (IPL) Twenty20 tournament after last weeks militant attack on the Sri Lanka team bus in Pakistan. Pietersen was the most expensive player in last months auction for the IPL and signed for the Bangalore Royal Challengers for a record $1.55 million.
However he told Sundays News of the World: "I will be consulting as many people as I can, but if I do not think it is right then I will not be going. "After this final test against the West Indies, I will be speaking to Bangalore, and the ECB (England and Wales Cricket Board) to my agent and to security advisors.
"Then I will be a lot clearer in my thoughts than I am now. Since the terror attacks in Mumbai we are all now more mindful of our own security arrangements."
Fellow-England players Andrew Flintoff, Owais Shah, Ravi Bopara and Paul Collingwood are also contracted to play in the IPL.
Seven people were killed and six Sri Lankan players wounded when gunmen opened fire on the Sri Lankan bus on its way to the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on Tuesday.
