Kamal apprises Haqqani of uplift activities

Karachi City Nazim, Mustafa Kamal, currently on a visit to the United States, called on Ambassador Husain Haqqani at the Chancery on Saturday and briefed him regarding his meetings with the US city government officials. The Nazim apprised the ambassador of the development activities being carried out in Karachi.
City Nazim informed the ambassador that due to his efforts, the city of 18 million has become an attractive destination for investors from all over the world. He said that the present City District Government Karachi (CDGK) has made development planning in such a way that will help cater to the needs of the residents as far as 2020.
He said that many problems of big cities could be overcome with better strategy and good planning and the CDGK has prepared a comprehensive master plan for development. He informed the ambassador that Karachi is being developed on international standards.Ambassador Haqqani congratulated the Nazim on getting declared Karachi a sister city of Houston and appreciated his efforts to introduce the city to the American investors. He added that the declaration will also provide an opportunity for the CDGK officials to learn from the experiences of the large cities and effective civic development.
Ambassador Haqqani assured the Nazim that he would encourage both Pakistani-Americans and the US entrepreneurs to invest in Pakistan, especially in Karachi, which provides a better environment for foreign investment.
