The Child Support Programme of Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal (PBM) is offering Conditional Cash Transfers for the ultra poor families for sending their children to school in the age bracket of 5 to 12 years old. PBM is piloting the Conditional Cash Transfer in three districts and scaling it up in additional eight districts, official of PBM told APP here on Monday.
Implementation of the programme is carried out in close co-ordination with Education Department, District Government, Nadra and Payment Agencies like Pakistan Post. The World Bank is providing technical assistance in designing and implementing systems in line with well executed Conditional Cash Transfers across the world, and in future further development can be well witnessed through survey and rapid assessment of the programme, the official added.
The programme provides additional cash incentive to Food Support Programme beneficiary of Rs 200/- per month if the family has one child and Rs 350 per month if the family has more than one child admitted in school and regularly attending at least 80 percent classes. The benefit size is being revised and would be around Rs 300/- and Rs 600/- respectively. Payment is made on quarterly basis through Pakistan Post Office selected branches.
If the family fails to admit the child/ children in school or ensure 80 percent of class attendance then amount for that specific quarter is not paid as a penalty. To further strengthen this programme, transparent proxy means test/score card are made by using different scientific methods. The effective implementation of all systems/processes are addressed properly so that maximum relief and easy mechanism for thee existing CSP beneficiaries.
