Mobile teams of the Health Department would immunise 0.45 million children of five years of age and below against polio, said DCO Qazi Muhammad Ashfaq here on Monday. Launching the three-day drive at the DHQ hospital, he said that 1,115 teams would administer anti-polio drops to the kids at peoples doorstep.
He said health teams had also been constituted to give the drops at bus and wagon terminals besides railway stations. Some teams will be available at rural health centres, basic health units and tehsil headquarter hospitals for the purpose.
EDO Health Dr Muhammad Tariq Gillani said the teams had been instructed to go door-to-door to administer the anti-polio drops in all over the district. He urged the parents to get their wards vaccinated against the onslaught of poliovirus, which paralyses the victim child for the whole of his or her life.
