General, Hameed Gul (Retd) has termed restoration of the deposed judges as a triumph of the lawyers movement and the people. Talking to the journalists here outside the residence of Chief Justice of Supreme Court Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, Gul said that the issue was amicably resolved due to the wisdom and prudence of Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani.
Gul said that the PML-N chief has proved that he was committed to the cause of restoration of independent judiciary. Urging the government to shift its focus on the economic development, Gul said better economic conditions would help the government facilitate poor segments of the society. Answering to a question, Hameed Gul said the country could not afford mid-term elections and reconciliation was the only answer to all the questions.
"Rather, the parliament should be strengthened and the focus should be laid on economic development now," he concluded.
