Restoration of deposed judges to ensure supremacy of law

17 Mar, 2009

The restoration of deposed Chief Justice Muhammad Iftikhar Chaudhry and other judges of the apex courts would ensure supremacy of law and constitution in the country and held it an historic decision, Senator Adeel said. Talking to APP here, he said that the decision would have far reaching impact on provision of quick and inexpensive justice to the people.
He argued had the decision was taken in accordance with Charter of Democracy much earlier, the damages to the country could have been avoided. However, it is still not too late and the prime minister saved the country from catastrophe by respecting sentiments and feelings of the nation, he added. He maintained that the ANP always waged struggle for law and constitution and in the lawyers movement the ANP workers were in the forefront.
The ANP, Senator Adeel claimed fully supported the lawyers struggle and provided every support for its success. He maintained that after settlement of this grave problem, the president and the prime minister should play their role in ending the lawlessness in the frontier province because terrorists and extremists played havoc with it and the process of development has almost been halted. He appealed to the President to ink the Nizam e Adl Regulations 2009 without any further delay so that efforts could take its ground in the Malakand Division.
