PML-Q CEC meeting on March 22

19 Mar, 2009

The PML (Quaid) leadership, which is facing opposition from within the party in forming an alliance with PPP for Punjab government, has convened the party Central Executive Committee (CEC) meeting on March 22. The party will discuss the current political situation in the wake of the government decision to reinstate the deposed judges.
The party will discuss matters regarding the Punjab government in the context of review petition to be filed by PML (N) or the government in the Supreme Court. The scenario could be different if Shahbaz Sharif disqualification was nullified in the review petition. In this case, the Shahbaz Sharif government could be restored.
The party leaders like Mushahid Hussain Syed, Hamid Nasir Chattha, Muhammad Ali Durrani and others are asking Chaudhris to keep up the policy of "wait and see". The CEC meeting will be held in Lahore and will be presided over by the party president Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain. The partys CEC meeting could not be held after the disqualification of Sharif brothers on February 25. The internal differences and certain other issues were the main causes of delay in the meeting, a party leader said.
