US MIDDAY: cocoa and coffee climb

US cocoa and arabica coffee futures jumped to multiweek highs in early trade Wednesday, on chart-based buying and a boost from the weak dollar, traders said. Arabica coffee for May delivery up 1.95 cents to $1.1320 per lb, by 9:11 am EDT (1311 GMT). Session range from $1.1115 to $1.1425 per lb, the highest since February 26.
May volume at 3,877 lots. The rest ranged from 1.90 cents to 2070.85 cents stronger. Arabica futures attracted technical buying around $1.13, basis May, said traders. Benchmark May cocoa up $69, or 2.9 percent, at $2,465 per tonne by 9:13 am. May volume at 3,803 lots. Session range from $2,365 to $2,495, a high dating back to February 20. The rest of the contracts ranged from $61 to $96 higher.
