Elahi for forming coalition government of three major parties

19 Mar, 2009

Former chief minister and PML (Q) Punjab president Chaudhry Parvaiz Elahi said here on Wednesday that Punjab crisis could be resolved if the PPP, PML (N) and PML (Q) formed a coalition government in the province. Talking to reporters here he said that the PML (Q) president Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain has given a practical formula of forming government of the three major parties.
He said that the members of the PML (Q) forward bloc had no other option but to return to the main party. "If the forward bloc supported the PML (N) government, its members will stand disqualified," he added. By doing so, the PML (N) is going against the rule of respecting the other partys mandate. The PML (Q) mandate must be respected in Punjab.
He warned that the PML (N) government in Punjab would be short-lived if the PML (Q) forward bloc supported it. If Shahbaz Sharif government was restored as a result of review petition in the Supreme Court, the province would be again in uncertain situation, said the former chief minister without giving any explanation.
