The Supreme Court on Thursday returned review petitions filed by the Federation against the disqualification of Sharif brothers from holding any public office or contesting election after raising objections. The government filed four review petitions on the directives of Prime Minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani against an earlier order of the apex court which disqualified Sharif brothers on Thursday.
A source in the registrar office said that as all the four petitions were filed without the security bond hence were these returned. According to the Supreme Court rules every review petition has to be filed with the security bond of Rs 10,000. Earlier in the day, Attorney General Sardar Latif Khosa while answering a question regarding submission of security bonds had said that the security bonds can be filed later and the court would not return petitions on this ground.
