The Oscar-winning actress Anne Hathaway is in talks to star in the upcoming Barbie movie. Earlier, Amy Schumer was roped in to play the title role of Barbie in Sony's upcoming live-action version, but she is no longer part of the much anticipated franchise.
“Sadly, I'm no longer able to commit to Barbie due to scheduling conflicts,” Schumer said in a statement to Variety. “The film has so much promise, and Sony and Mattel have been great partners. I'm bummed, but look forward to seeing Barbie on the big screen”.
Amy Schumer took to Instagram on Tuesday, July 25, to congratulate Anne Hathaway for reportedly replacing her as the lead role in the live-action Barbie movie.
The film, which is set to mix animation and live-action, will apparently follow what happens to Barbie after she gets kicked out of Barbieland for not fitting in.
Hathaway has proven to have successful stints in comedy movies like ‘The Devil Wears Prada’ and ‘Get Smart’. She has also played an unforgettable princess role in her debut movie ‘The Princess Diaries’.
