SHC reserves judgement in appeal in French engineers killing case

A division bench of High Court of Sindh (SHC) comprising Justice Qaiser Iqbal and Justice Syed Mehmood Alam Rizvi on Friday re-heard an appeal preferred by convicts in Sheraton hotel suicide blast in which eleven French Engineers were killed. The same bench three months back heard and reserved the judgement.
The bench on Friday heard Muhammad Farooq and M. R. Syed advocate, counsel for appellants/accused. According to prosecution, convicted accused in collusion with two absconding accused hatched a conspiracy and managed suicide attack on the Naval bus ready to transport the French engineers and technicians to a naval base.
Eleven French engineers and two Pakistanis were killed while 12 Frenchmen and 11 Pakistanis sustained injuries in the blast besides damage to dozens of vehicles. The accused/appellants were sentenced and tried by ATC-III for Karachi division headed by judge Haq Nawaz Baloch. The accused were sentenced to death on counts of multiple murders.
