Chief Commissioner, Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT), Kamran Lashari on Friday reviewed the arrangements for the 7th free pollen allergy relief camp to be held at Aapara Community Centre from March 27. A high level meeting held here was informed that duration of camp will be for two weeks and all medicines will be provided free of cost to the patients up to April 9.
The meeting was further informed that ICT Health Department has made elaborate arrangements for the free pollen allergy relief camp in co-operation with all concerned departments and stakeholders including pharmaceutical companies. The Camp will have 12 counters for patients and homeopathic, allopathic and unani tib treatment facilities will be available to the allergy patients free of cost.
Lashari in his address to the meeting called for co-ordinated efforts on part of all stakeholders for providing relief to pollen allergy patients during spring season in Islamabad and adopting effective strategy to eliminate the causes of the allergy.
He said that pollen allergy is a big issue for the citizens of Islamabad and all stakeholders must take concrete steps to provide relief to the allergy patients in a befitting manner. The Chief Commissioner further said that the Capital Development Authority (CDA) was taking effective steps and gradually cutting down male paper mulberry trees under a phased programme and replacing them with environmental friendly plantation.
However, a balance should be maintained without affecting the citys greenery and environmental beauty. He also constituted two committees of experts for taking stock of the situation and suggesting ways and means to eliminate the causes of pollen allergy. Other committee will launch effective media campaign to create awareness among the pollen allergy patients.
The Chief Commissioner also appealed to print and electronic media to come forward and launch effective media campaign for creating awareness amongst the patients and disseminating information regarding preventive measures for allergy. He also appreciated the important role of doctors paramedics an pharmaceutical companies, working for this noble cause.
The representatives of pharmaceutical companies also announced donation of medicines for the free relief camp. All the stakeholders, including Director Administration, Muhammad Ali, Deputy Commissioner, ICT Asadullah Faiz, Dr Usman Yousuf, Dr Athar Niaz Rana Dr Zaman, PIMS, Dr Nasir Hakeem Rizwan Hafeez, DHO ICT Dr Amirzada, Drugs Inspector, Shafique Khan and representatives of pharmaceutical companies attended the meeting.
