Federal Minister for Population Welfare, Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan, has said that necessary arrangements are being finalised for setting up a sub-Campus of Punjab University (PU) in Sialkot, and development work on the project would be carried out after acquiring a suitable site.
Talking to reporters at Kuba Chek near Sialkot on Monday she added that the step was being taken to provide higher education facility to the students at their doorstep. The regular functioning of this proposed campus would enable the female students to continue their higher studies without any hurdle she added.
We are making adequate efforts for controlling the fast growing birth rate in the country, as it is not only hindering the development process and also creating certain social problems in the society, adding that a special programme has been designed for creating awareness about the negative impact of excess population among the masses.
On this occasion the federal minister said it is high time that all political parties should work collectively for bringing political and economic stability in the country, as our joint efforts would help bailing out the country from multifarious problems being confronted by it. She also ensured that women rights would be fully protected and discriminations against them would be eliminated.
