In upholding the government decision to celebrate 2009 as the "Environment Year" the Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) has embarked on introducing a new billing format for its customers, whereby the multiple page bills would be substituted by a single page with all the essential details, information was received through a PR issued here on Monday.
In order to facilitate the customers, PTCL would continue sending detailed bills to customers for three months starting March 2009 in accordance with the PTA directives.
According to Dr Sadik Al-Jadir, SEVP Commercial PTCL, this initiative would contribute in saving natural resources ie trees utilised for production of millions of pages sent as bills every month and have a direct impact on the environment reducing pollution too.
Paper is made from wood-pulp and the depletion of forest leads ultimately to global warming. This PTCL initiative for moving towards a paperless environment would ultimately help save our forests, he added.
Meanwhile, environmental friendly and cost effective solutions are being developed for providing itemised billing details to customers through internet, e-mail and post; depending on the customer preferences. Prior to discontinuation of detailed bills, PTCL will offer convenient channels to register bill details through internet, email or post, he said.
PTCL customers would be able to get the details of bills via emails by registering their email addresses for receiving electronic detailed bills, by simply sending an e-mail with their area code and telephone number to billing@ptcl.net.pk and the detailed bills would be sent to registered email addresses after necessary verifications.-PR
