President Asif Ali Zardari will address the Parliaments joint sitting on 28th March in which he would make a major announcement, said parliamentary affairs minister Babar Awan here on Monday. Talking to media persons here, he said that all arrangements for presidential address were being finalised.
The minister said that the government wanted to resolve every issue including granting autonomy to federating units on the floor of the parliament. "The parliament is the forum to resolve the Balochistan issue," he said. The parliament will take up this issue soon, he added. Presidents address to the parliament will mark the beginning of the new parliamentary year.
According to sources in the parliamentary affairs ministry, the session is necessary to be summoned so that the two houses of the parliament could meet the mandatory 130 days in session in the new parliamentary year.
They said that a summary in this regard has already been sent to the President for summoning the session. The government does not expect a rowdy joint session during the Presidents speech as the Prime Minister has already taken the PML (N) on board, the sources said. Gilanis meeting with Nawaz Sharif in Lahore on Sunday has paved the way for political reconciliation.
