Kaira condemns killing of journalist Raja Asad

Minister for Information and Broadcasting Qamar Zaman Kaira has condemned the violent attack on a journalist Raja Asad Hameed, Senior Reporter of Waqat television in which he lost his life. "It was a cold blooded murder by criminal minded individuals who have no respect for humanity," he said in a statement here on Friday.
The Minister assured that the incident would be thoroughly investigated to apprehend the culprits who had committed this heinous crime. He said such brutal act of violence against professional journalists could not deter the commitment of journalists community to uphold the principles of independent and free media.
The government, he said, stood with the journalists community to express its solidarity in this hour of distress. Meanwhile, Secretary Information, Ashfaq Ahmad Gondal condemned the murder of Raja Asad Hameed and said such act of violence could not shatter the determination of the journalists community and the government to fight crimes.
Principal Information Officer Shabbir Anwer, while expressing condemnation, said such brutal act particularly against journalists, could not be tolerated in any civilised society. The Information Minister, the Secretary Information and the PIO expressed condolences with the family of the deceased and prayed to Almighty Allah to rest the departed soul in peace and give courage and fortitude to the bereaved family to bear this irreparable loss.
