The President and Chief Executive Officer, ABB Private Limited, Farhat Ali has succeeded as the President of Overseas Investors Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OICCI) for the year of 2009-2010. This was announced at the 149th Annual General Meeting of the OICCI held on Friday.
The outgoing President, Waqar A Malik (ICI Pakistan Limited) announced the names of the Vice President and six members, who have been elected on the Managing Committee of OICCI.
They are Ameena Saiyid, OBE as Vice President (Oxford University Press), Saber Bashir Nawaz (Attock Cement Pakistan Limited), Farrukh Hussein Khan (SMA Capital Management Limited), Khalid Rahman (Pakistan Petroleum Limited), Naved A Khan (Faysal Bank Limited), Naved Alam Zubairi (Asia Petroleum Limited), Naveed Ismail (Karachi Electric Supply Corporation), S Qaisar Shareef (Procter & Gamble Pakistan Pvt Limited) and Syed Farukh Mathar (SGS Pakistan Private Limited).
The Secretary General of OICCI, Unjela Siddiqi will continue to serve as the 11th member of the Managing Committee for the year 2009-10. Addressing the meeting, Ali welcomed the new Managing Committee and said, The Chamber can play a significant role in increasing investment and economic growth in the country, despite the challenging times, provided the government helps in ensuring a competitive economy arid a level playing field for all the major stakeholders. He has been heading ABB Pakistan as Country President and CEO since June 1999 and brings with him a wide experience of business interaction with the public and corporate sector in Pakistan. -PR
