Divisional Commissioner Tahir Hussain has asked that solid and comprehensive strategy should be devised with the mutual consultation of Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Wasa and City District Government for overcoming the problems of environmental pollution, sewerage, traffic and other related issues caused by the industries located in populous areas of the city.
He said that a report comprising practicable suggestions should also be submitted within two weeks for the solution of problems confronted to the citizens regarding diseases spreading due to the industrial waste in the city. He was chairing a meeting to review the matters of shifting of industrial units out of city, which were causing environmental pollution.
He said that different epidemic diseases were being spreading due to the industrial waste, smoke, gases and industrial affluent water, which were effecting environment, economy and health of the people. He suggested that comprehensive line of action should be adopted by the industrialists, District Administration and relevant department without further delay to control the industrial pollution and other related problems.
The representatives of industrialists, President FCCI Mian Hamid Javed, Chairman FEDMIC Mian Muhammad Latif, Mian Aftab and others viewed that numerous economic and employment problems could be faced due to immediate shifting of the industrial units located in the city, however, a unanimous strategy should be evolved for the solution of these problems.
The meeting was attended Managing Director Wasa Dr Arshid Mehmud, Director Development Dr Tariq Sardar, Additional Commissioner Shafqatullah Mushtaq and the representatives of different industrial organisations.
