Meat prices surge

The price of chicken (living) has been raised to Rs 135 per kilogram while meat at Rs 260 and beef at Rs 150 per kg in different markets of Multan. Poultry vendors believed that the same trend would be maintained by the end of the week due to shortage of chicken. Chicken (living) is being sold at Rs 135 per kilogram in Dera Adda, Gulgasht, Bakar Mandi and Daulat gate and other areas fixed the chicken price at Rs 85 per kilogram.
The meat sellers say there are various causes for rising meat prices, including the high feed costs for chicken and animals. The meat cost is affected by the feed, they said.
