Advisor to Chief Minister Sindh Sharmilla Faruqui has stressed the need to chalk out a comprehensive strategy to resolve the prevailing issue of shortage and exorbitant rates of wheat flour in the province. Talking to media persons during her visit to Malir Press Club, she said that sincere efforts were requited to establish the writ of law for bringing the Atta prices at par with the rates fixed by the government.
She urged Provincial Food Department to convene a meeting with all the stakeholders to chalk out a practicable plan for the relief of general public. She also urged the city government to establish vigilance teams" in this regard to take stem action against hoarders and those involved in black marketing in proper co-ordination with the food and bureau of supply and prices departments.
Sharmilla expressed her concern over the increase in load shedding timings, causing distress among general public, especially the students. She proposed that Ministry of Water and Power should take notice of the situation
and convene a meeting with KESC and all other relevant agencies to address the issue on war footing. The advisor expressed concerns over the growing incidents of Karo Kari and holding of Jirgas, adding every day reports of gruesome incidents of murder of women on pretext of honour killing were pouring in from all over the country. "Serious efforts are the need of the hour to implement laws to eliminate this menace from the society," she added.
