UNESCO-L Oreal Co-sponsored Fellowship for Young Women in Life Sciences 2009 has been awarded to Ishrat Bano of Pakistan. She was amongst fifteen young women selected from all over the world and is the only women selected from the South East Asia Region. It is pertinent to mention here that she was nominated by Higher Education Commission (HEC) for the fellowship.
After a careful review of hundreds of nominations, received from various countries of the world, the final selection committee of UNESCO-L Oreal selected Ishrat Bano of Pakistan, for the award of UNESCO-L Oreal Co-sponsored Fellowship for Young Women in Life Sciences-2009. She has completed her education from Hyderabad, Sindh and was currently enrolled as a PhD candidate, in a local university, under the HEC-Indigenous 5000 Fellowship programme (Batch TV).
Ishrat Bano is due to proceed to UK, to start her PhD research work at Cambridge University, from April 2009. After completion of her doctoral research work at Cambridge University UK, she will return back to Pakistan, to consolidate and write up her PhD thesis, under HEC-Indigenous 5000 Fellowship programme.
