The outflow of foreign portfolio investment continued and the offshore investors withdrew $9.639 million from the countrys equity market during the week ended on March 28, 2009. According to National Clearing Company of Pakistan Limited (NCCPL) data, the cumulative outflow of this mode of investment increased to Rs 46.391 million in the current month.
The offshore investors withdrew $605.913 million from the Pakistan equity market during the period from January 1, 2008 to date. This was a four-day week, as the market remained closed on Monday on account of Pakistan Day. The week started on a negative note as the foreign investors withdrew $7,166,217 on Tuesday. This trend continued with another outflow of $1,048,539 on Wednesday.
The foreign investors remained net buyers with an inflow of $1,711,781 on Thursday. However, the market witnessed another outflow of $3,136,619 on Friday.
