Chairman Human Rights Committee Punjab Bar Council Sheikh Anees Saadi advocate has claimed to have received life threats from some religious extremist organisations for pleading cases to defend those accused for blasphemy.
Talking to media in Lahore High Court Bar premises Anees Saadi alleged that some religious banned outfits were delivering life threats to him and his family members.
"Repeated attempts have been made to kidnap and kill me," he further alleged while appealing to the government to arrest the culprits and provide him protection. In this regard applications for the registration of cases have already been filed at Old Anarkali, Nawankot, Gawalmandi, Hurbanspura, Islampura and Ravi Road police stations, he said.
