Shahbaz sets up Rs 50 million fund for journalists

Punjab Chief Minister, Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has announced setting up of a special fund with an amount of Rs 50 million for those journalists meeting any accident during the performance of their duties.
He also announced constitution of a special team for early apprehending the culprits involved in the murder and dacoity of Tariq Javed Malik, Reporter of local daily and Rs 1 million financial assistance for the heirs of the deceased. He expressed these views while talking with the parents of young journalist late Tariq Javed Malik at Chief Ministers Secretariat, here Wednesday.
Expressing his sympathies with the parents of deceased journalist, Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif said that Tariq Javed Malik was an able and efficient journalist and he earned a good name in the journalism due to his capabilities. He said that he equally shared their grief and was deeply grieved over this tragic incident. He assured that all resources would be utilised for early arresting the accused involved in this incident of murder and dacoity.
A special team comprising officers is being constituted for this purpose which would submit its report within seven days, he added. The Chief Minister also prayed for the departed soul and long life of his parents.
