A delegation of Pakistan Britain Trade & Investment Forum (PBTIF) visited the Overseas Investors Chamber of Commerce & Industry (OICCI) to discuss issues hampering FDI. This visit was in reference to the MoU signed in 2008 between OICCI and PBTIF to enhance Pakistans image in the UK to bring further investment into the country.
The delegation included Sir Tom Harris (Chairman PBTIF and Vice Chairman of Standard Chartered Capital Markets PLC), H E Wajid Shamsul Hasan (High Commissioner for Pakistan in the UK) and H E Robert W Gibson (Deputy High Commissioner, Karachi), along with representatives of British companies.
Sir Tom Harris appreciated the overall investment climate in Pakistan despite the current law and order situation.
The financial sector along with investments in training and education were two areas they found especially attractive.
While addressing the delegation, Farhat Ali, President OICCI said, The Chamber, which Is the premier body of top multinationals in the country, can play a significant role in increasing investment and economic growth despite the challenging times. Vince Harris (International Power), Zafar Iqbal Choudhry (Clyde & Co), Saira Ahmed (Commercial Counsellor - Pakistan High Commission London), Rashid Iqbal (Media Integrated Learning Centre) and Ikram Khan (Media World) were also present.-PR
