AJK President criticises loopholes in water management

President Azad Jammu and Kashmir Raja Zulqarnain Khan has said that water shortage is a serious issue as out of 140 MAF available water annually, only 40 MAF is benefiting the crops while rest of it is being destroyed through various loopholes in the water management.
He was addressing the participants of prize distribution ceremony of Kabaddi, tent pegging and cattle show here at extension ground on Tuesday evening. He stressed the need for education on efficient use of water at higher education level as the countries is facing water scarcity problem. He lauded the university in bridging the gap between rural masses and the academia through such colourful and interested events for transfer of technology at grassroots level. Raja Zulqarnain said that rural life is full of beautiful chattels and a house having smart and pretty cattle gains special respect and value in the community.
Earlier, VC UAF Professor Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan highlighted the university achievements and said that during the last one year UAF had organised more than 50 scientific seminars, workshops, training courses and its presence in acceptable across the country through its outreach and community service programmes. Dr Khan thanked the visiting president and said that university administration and participants of the festival got encouragement for patronising such events at highest level.
Later the President Azad Kashmir Raja Zulqarnain Khan distributed prizes among the winners of various competitions of Kabaddi, tent pegging, cattle show.
