The three-day 46th Medical Symposium, which is being organised by the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC), will start from April 06, 2009. Federal Health Minister Eijaz Hussain Jakhrani would inaugurate the three-day symposium, Chairman Medical Symposium Professor Mushtaq Ahmed said while addressing a press conference here at JPMC on Thursday.
He said that the symposium was being organised on public-private partnership basis, which would be consisted of different scientific sessions. He added that 170 latest scientific journals would also be read out during the symposium.
Professor Mushtaq said that JPMC had the honour to organise first medical symposium in the country in 1963, which was inaugurated by the then President Ayub Khan. He said that prominent speakers including Dr Adib Rizvi of SIUT, Professor Masood Hameed of DUHS, Dr Riaz Ahmed Memon, Dr Abdullah Feroze and Dr Zenat would address different sessions of the symposium.
Talking about the performance of JPMC, Professor Dr Musarrat Hussain, Executive Director JPMC, said that one million patients annually visited the centre and 12,000 deliveries were conducted in the hospital. He said that there were 29 operation theatres in the hospitals, which work round the clock for ensuring free of cost medical treatment to people of Sindh
He said that the hospital was providing best medical facilities and maintained complain registers to address problems of patients, which they faced during and after treatment. He said that hospital administration by utilising all of its resources, was trying its level best to improve standard of medical treatment at JPMC.
