Wolfsburg crushed champions Bayern Munich 5-1 on Saturday with braces from strikers Grafite and Edin Dzeko, to go top of the Bundesliga table on goal difference. Bayern drop to fourth place on 48 points, three off the top, while Hamburg beat Hoffenheim with a solitary goal from Jonathan Pitroipa to move up to 51 points, second only on goal difference, but also had captain David Jarolim sent off with a second booking.
Hertha Berlin's title hopes suffered a serious setback after losing 3-1 at home against Borussia Dortmund and dropping to third on 49 points. Grafite, who now leads the scorers table with 20 goals, produced what surely must be the goal of the day when he dribbled past two defenders and the goalkeeper before scoring with a back heel in front of two other stunned Bayern defenders. He had earlier scored once and Dzeko twice after Christian Gentner's 44th minute header was matched by a first half stoppage time goal by Bayern striker Luca Toni.
