Most Russian grain prices were little changed last week from the previous one in lacklustre market trading, analysts said on Monday. Government purchases totalled 182,520 tonnes last week, just about a third of the 534,192 tonnes the government bought a week before, as it had stopped offering to buy feed grain.
The total amount of acquired grain from the start of the intervention tenders in August reached 8.65 million tonnes, while only 6 million tonnes were actually delivered to government-appointed silos, the Institute for Agricultural Market Studies (IKAR said). Grain prices lost just 50 roubles ($1.49) per tonne on average last week. The only exception was fourth-grade milling grain, which lost 100 roubles per tonne, SovEcon agricultural analysts said.
It said that prices may decline further, as holders of grain stocks still refrain from massive sales. Crude sunoil export prices have increased to $690 per tonne, although the export demand remained rather weak, IKAR said. Domestic prices remained at around $681 per tonne. Sunseed prices dropped to $272-$296 per tonne, IKAR said. SovEcon said there was only a rise in the Central Black Soil region, which resulted from an increase in bid prices of up to 500 roubles per tonne by some local crushers.
