Javed Iqbal Warriach, MNA/chairman National Assembly standing committee on food and Agriculture presided over a meeting held at Parliament House Islamabad on Wednesday to discuss the performance of the Ministry of food and Agriculture and its attached Departments.
The committee expressed its dissatisfaction over the insufficient efforts made by the Ministry to make its policies more beneficial for the small growers and recommended that Ministry may take effective measures in order to overcome their financial problems.
The Committee also recommended that the Ministry may intervene timely regarding fixation of price of different crops to stop the monopoly of middleman and also adopt scientific procedures for evaluation of production of the crops. The Committee also recommended that the Ministry may avoid imposing ban on inter-provincial movement of wheat in order to over come its shortage in different parts of Country.
Earlier, Shahid Hussain Raja, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Food and Agriculture briefly apprised the Committee about the performance of the Ministry and its attached Departments. Besides, Nazar Muhammad Gondal, Minister for Food and Agriculture, MNAs Nadeem Afzal, Syed Javed Hassnain, Abdul Majeed Khan Khanan Khail, Muhammad Baligh-ur-Rehman, Muhammad Arshad Khan Leghari, Rana Tanveer Hussain, Jam Mir Muhammad Yousaf, Dr Abdul Kadir Khanzada and Syed Haider Ali Shah attended the meeting.-PR
