Under BISP financial assistance is being provided to Rs 3.5 million deserving people

Abdullah Hussain Haroon, a permanent delegate of Pakistan for United Nations has visited secretariat of Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) here on Saturday. On this occasion, Federal Minister/Chairperson of BISP, Farzana Raja told Abdullah Hussain Haroon about the performance of BISP and its transparency in detail.
Under BISP the financial assistance is being provided to 3.5 million deserving families whereas in the next phase 7 million more deserving families would be included in the programme, she informed. Dr Ammar Turrabi, President Think Tank, Pvt (Ltd) was also present on this occasion.
Abdullah Hussain Haroon was entirely satisfied over the performance of BISP, congratulated President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani and Chairperson, BISP, Farzana Raja. It was also decided, on this occasion, that Programme would be enhanced internationally and as per the Millennium Programme of United Nations the BISP would be improved economically.
He further said that besides women empowerment, the BISP would be made more beneficial through United Nations other developmental programmes to provide education, employment, poverty alleviation, life insurance and technical training to the deserving families.-PR
