Multan fears security threat over opening of boys hostels

The public and social circles in Multan have expressed extreme worry over opening of boys hostels across the city, as these hostels have no security checking arrangement therefore, are posing a sign of danger to the peace loving citizens.
The people underlined that there is no proper checking system in these boys hostels and new hostels are being constructed at many places around the city that could be easily misused by the miscreants.
Residents of Gulgasht Colony and adjacent areas told Business Recorder that considering the law and order situation prevailing all across, construction of several boys hostels in different parts of the city is alarming and issue needs the authoritys serious attention.
The people of the city demanded of the government to take notice of the issue and urged to adopt a comprehensive policy regarding the construction of hostels and registration of new students before allowing them boarding facility. Multan Commissioner, Syed Muhammad Ali Gardezi has said private that schools have been directed to ensure proper security arrangements and those not following the directives, will be sealed.
The schools administrations have been directed by the administration to ensure foolproof security arrangements. Schools, not co-operating with the administration, would be sealed, he said. He said though there was no specific threat to any school, however, it was essential to ensure proper security arrangements as a precautionary measure.
Regarding the overall security situation in Multan, he said there were some threats, but there was no specific tool to assert the genuineness of these threats. Responding to a question, he said the administration would launch an operation against quacks and also those medical stores selling spurious medicines. Replying to another query, he said prisoners involved in heinous crimes, were kept under surveillance after their release.
Meanwhile, the CPO Multan, Syed Saud Aziz said though there was no specific threat to any school, but as per the security measures, private schools would be visited to review the security arrangements. About precautionary measures he said that security in the markets, shopping centres and other public places was being enhanced, especially at the entry points of the federal capital.
