Dr Fehmida Mirza, Speaker National Assembly has extended warm felicitations to the Christian Members of the Parliament and Christian community on the auspicious occasion of Easter.
Dr Fehmida Mirza said that the Easter is occasion to commemorate the resurrection of Jesus Christ, the culmination of the entire years worship and prayers and forty days of fasting by our Christian brethren followed by celebration and jubilation.
The Speaker asked them to pray for peace, prosperity and solidarity of Pakistan. The Speaker said that Jesus Christ was ordained by almighty Allah to preach love, peace, tolerance and brotherhood. He inculcated spiritual values among his followers to work for the divine pleasure. His eternal message of love for humanity and for members of all communities and fraternities still holds strength to ensure harmony and peace in todays world.
She said that in the day of turbulence in the country we should forge unity to counter the nefarious designs of the enemies. She reiterated that the rights and privileges enjoyed by all minorities in the country will be fully safeguarded by the government according to the Constitution of Pakistan, guiding principles of the Father of the Nation and Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto and Benazir Bhutto. These would always remain a sacred trust for the people and the government.
Faisal Karim Kundi, Deputy Speaker National Assembly has also extended greeting to his fellow Christian colleagues on the auspicious occasion of Easter.
