Japan seeks to buy 61,300 tonnes food wheat

Japan's Ministry of Agriculture seeks to buy 61,300 tonnes of food wheat, 33,400 tonnes of food barley and 15,250 tonnes of beer barley in two types of tenders under the simultaneous buy and sell (SBS) system, all closing on April 15, a ministry official said on Tuesday. All shipments must be made from the time contracts are made to July 31, the official said.
Of the total, 54,900 tonnes of food wheat, 30,200 tonnes of food barley and 10,500 tonnes of beer barley are for bulk imports with a minimum lot of 1,000 tonnes. The remaining 6,400 tonnes of food wheat, 3,200 tonnes of food barley and 4,750 tonnes of beer barley are for container-based shipments with a minimum lot of 100 tonnes.
