A local resident of Bara Kahu, a suburban area of Islamabad has demolished the wall of Bara Kahu Grid Station to occupy the land for construction of his shopping plaza. The demolished grid station supplying electricity to Islamabad and Murree is now vulnerable to any untoward incident.
Local police under political pressure refused to register the report of the incident and take any action against those involved in this episode. According to details a local resident Raja Zubair, an influential political activist demolished the 200 meters boundary wall of Grid Station on main Murree Road.
Raja Zubair brought the excavator and demolished the wall of Grid Station, claiming that it is his land, said Executive Engineer of the Grid Station, Wazir Muhammad while talking to Business Recorder on Wednesday.
He said that security officials on duty stopped him from demolishing the wall further. "When we reached Bara Kahu Police Station, Raja Zubair came and assured that he will construct the wall and started construction by depriving Grid of its land for which we stopped him," he added.
He said that Bara Kahu Police refused to register FIR of the incident and later on when Wapda and IESCO authorities raised the matter on higher level, report was registered but no arrest was made.
When asked about the security of Grid Station, Wazir Muhammad said that it is at high risk. "We have deployed security officials around the facility so as to save this high profile installation," he added.
When contacted, the SHO Bara Kahu was not available for comments, but his sub-ordinate told this scribe that report was registered and arrest of people involved in the incident will be decided at higher level.
Murree Road at Bara Kahu at main Murree Road is a prime commercial location and construction of a shopping center here will be source of immense benefits to the person.
